Welcome back to The Crown Informer! It seems we’re slowly approaching a point in time where this newsletter is actually weekly. It doesn’t seem to be that way quite yet, though, meaning the roundup of writing in tonight’s edition will be especially large. There won’t be any new announcements until a few weeks from now, when I expand on more info surrounding 2022 Part II: A Poetry Collection and Mechanomica. For now, let’s get into a roundup of all the writing I’ve done since the previous Crown Informer. But first:
#WarriorNunSaved
I want to express my congratulations to the cast, the crew, and my fellow fans of Warrior Nun for the revival of the series! While there isn’t too much information on where it will be revived, it’s a remarkable win for the fanbase and something we’ve been fighting for since the end of last year. I just wanted to extend another big thank you to everyone who has enjoyed reading my essays over the last few months. And to reiterate that I am far from done, and look forward to writing even more about the show once again this coming Thursday. Thank you all, and we did it!
#WarriorNunSaved!
WEEKLY WORDS
Frayed Branches
For the sake of consistency, and despite “Twigs” posts being part of my Frayed Branches blog, I’ve decided to split the posts into two sections for The Crown Informer. So here, I’ll be highlighting the two essays I’ve written since the previous newsletter.
First, I recently finished Season 1 of Raised by Wolves, which I’ve been writing episode reviews threads for over on Twitter. I decided to take a look at how Season 1 explores faith using four different lenses, highlighting major characters that reflect these ideas. My next essay was about Avatrice, the romantic pairing of Ava and Beatrice in Warrior Nun. However, it’s also about how the series was confirmed to be saved, something that happened as I was in the middle of writing the essay.
You can read these latest essays by clicking the links below:
Raised by Wolves: Toying with Faith
Warrior Nun: How Avatrice Was Saved
Next week, you can expect a return to regularly-scheduled Warrior Nun essays on Thursday!
Twigs
I’m finding Twigs to be a really useful way for me to analyze the current slate of modern American media beyond my analytical essays (which are usually single-subject focused) and reporting news for Screen Rant. It’s giving me the ability to more adequately write about why certain pieces of media stand out to me, and why others don’t. Hopefully it’s a useful tool for your own perception of media, as it has been in helping me create better fiction and poetry.
While Twigs’ big focus right now is week-to-week reviews of The Walking Dead: Dead City, I’ve also gone to the theater a few times, keeping up with the latest releases as I must do. These have included two films that are the fifth entries in their franchises, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Insidious: The Red Door.
You can read these latest reviews by clicking on the links below:
The Walking Dead: Dead City Episode 2
The Walking Dead: Dead City Episode 3
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Next week, you can expect a focus on Dead City, and possibly another TV series if I decide it’s worth writing reviews about.
